It is time to smile, rejoice and cheer up, because the Wanyuri Foundation has done it again! This time not just to promote development work through water projects or the construction of schools that are part of the NGO's vision. This water project, implemented by the international organisation with its roots in Bamenda, has shown that it promotes peace between the French-speaking people and the English-speaking indigenous people of Cameroon, as we see them dancing and jubilating together during the inauguration of the just-completed Mimbam water project.
Looking back to 2017, when the so-called "anglophone crisis" began, who could believe that in 2024, anglophones and francophones in Cameroon will rejoice together over something as big as "access to clean and safe drinking water"? This day made possible by the Lord, let us rejoice and be glad. God knew and ordained from all eternity that Wanyuri together with its sponsors Wilde Ganzen, Province of West Flanders, various individuals and companies would come to the aid of communities around Cameroon to promote development and peace.

14 April 2024 was a momentous day for the people of Mimbam, village of Elig-Akeng 1, who, thanks to Wanyuri, were able to see in practice how their plight regarding portable water has been alleviated. We completed another solar-powered water system, giving nearly 15,000 people near Yaoundé, Centre region of Cameroon, access to clean and safe drinking water.
Belangrijkste projectsponsors:
The local water project committee of this water system led by major received a 3-day training on water management and sustainability before it was officially handed over to the local community of Mimbam and the government for use and maintenance. We all know that water is life and absence of water means death. Wanyuri is determined and consistent with its mission and vision - to alleviate the plight of the poor, the marginalised and the vulnerable. Wanyuri has achieved these life-changing ventures and projects thanks to our donors and benefactors, to whom we remain forever grateful. May they be blessed and rewarded for all the help they have given Wanyuri to realise its vision and mission of "clean and safe drinking water for all", especially in Mimbam- Elig-Akengi.
The Mimbam water project met the felt need of the people and this was evident from the enclosed nature of the place and its economically backward character. As you can see from the videos, this community, like many others, falls under one of the neglected areas in the country.

While this solar water system meets the needs of the local people, it is in danger of going under if the people do not change their mindset and do everything possible to maintain and manage the project so that it can serve them in the best possible way and for as long as possible for the long term and posterity
During the handover of the project, the mayor of Mbankomo, representing the people and the government, locals, villagers, elites and traditional authorities were present and expressed their gratitude through many forms, including a traditional dance performance. They also promised and signed a binding document to ensure that every effort is made to maintain the water system and ensure that water continues to flow. The water maintenance committee headed by the mayor was given a briefing on their role in maintaining the water system.
Having water is one thing. Monitoring and maintaining it is even more important, which is why the "water management committee" has also undergone education and training to ensure the sustainability and proper management of the water plant. The water continues to flow and no activities are undertaken that could endanger the water plant. Let our children and children's children meet and experience this reality! This day remains an important day in the history of Wanyuri and the Mimbam, Elig-Akeng 1 community as the water project is handed over to the community.
Long live Mimbam, Elig-Akengi 1 village. Long live Wanyuri. Long live Mbankomo
