Founder & president of Wanyuri Foundation involved in a road accident upon her visit in Cameroon.

Wanyuri founder involved in an accident.
Today August 3rd is exactly 4 weeks ago that the founder of Wanyuri Foundation Sunjo was involved in a fatal car accident on his way back to the airport to Belgium in Cameroon.

She had been to Cameroon to supervise and coordinate some of the ongoing Wanyuri projects. The main reason for her visit to her native Cameroon was to personally contribute to the official launch of the Wanyuri Development & Training Center. She also wanted to personally follow up the paperwork for the transition from Wanyuri Foundation to Wanyuri NGO (Non Governmental Organization).

The launch of the center has long been a goal of the Wanyuri team and we are pleased to finally be able to make it a reality.
On June 19, 2021, Wanyuri Foundation launched a development and training center in Yaoundé, targeting disadvantaged people and displaced persons.

As a social enterprise promoting communities and job creation, the foundation's activities have been in effect since July 1 with an emphasis on general capacity building courses to increase functional knowledge and improve job-related skills. To realize this vision, Wanyuri has 4 core areas to ensure she meets the needs of her target audience at almost no cost. The core areas are.

Basic Information Technology for Small Business Owners and School Leavers
Commercial Agriculture and Poultry
Hair and beauty
Customization and design.

The center has 51 registered internally displaced persons (IDPs) as first-time applicants for the courses.

Some of these disadvantaged IDPs received envelopes of financial support from Wanyuri Foundation to help them start or support their small business ventures. Training in the above areas has already started.

The center is located in the capital Cameroon and we currently have 51 candidates as the first party. We offer training courses in - Computer Science - Tailoring and Design - Poultry and Agriculture - Hair and Beauty.

Read more here & watch films about the center.

Our president met her tragedy on the hot sunny afternoon of Sunday, July 4, on her way to the airport. We praise and thank God for sparing her life.
It was a hot Sunday afternoon and there was little traffic on the way to the airport in Douala. The driver lost control for an unknown reason and we crashed into a building on the side of the road. Of all 4 passengers, Sunjo was the most injured and unconscious for two weeks. She was evacuated to Belgium as soon as possible for her treatment. At present, Sunjo has undergone several surgeries and is currently in the rehabilitation center for healing from her broken hip and leg.

We thought it wise to keep all our sponsors, donors, benefactors and supporters informed with this news. Sunjo will be back on his feet soon and Wanyuri activities will continue.

Long live Wanyuri Foundation.
